The picture this month is from a set of photographs recently supplied by Little Sutton library. The chess match is between the first vicar of Hooton, Rev. John Owen, and an American visitor. Rev. Owen was the incumbent at Hooton (St Paul's) from it's consecration in 1862 until his retirement from ill-health in 1900. Other photographs in this collection include a steam engine at Little Sutton station and a 'walking race' passing through the village in the early 1900s.
