| Progress We now have over a thousand images on this site and will be adding a minimum of a further thousand pictures during 2004-5. Content The content of Picture Cheshire to some degree reflects our holdings of photographs for different places across the county. For some areas, such as Ellesmere Port, Knutsford, Sandbach and Macclesfield we have a large number of images. For other areas, such as Nantwich and Crewe, the collections we have to draw on are smaller and less varied. Additions 2004-5 In the year ahead we will be looking to increase the coverage of towns such as Macclesfield and Northwich and will also try and include some images for places not yet represented, such as Hartford, Middlewich and Tarporley, or poorly represented, such as Disley. In addition, we have recently purchased the photographic collection of Basil Jeuda, a well-known author of books on railways and other transport-related topics in the North West, and will be adding some of the images from this collection. Chester People may be surprised at how few images we have of Chester. This is partly because our collection is geared more towards the county of Cheshire rather than the city of Chester, but primarily because a large collection of digital images devoted to Chester is available elsewhere, via Chester History and Heritage. |
